Types of output signal formats for stainless steel pressure gauges

  It’s perfectly normal to encounter some unclear issues when using stainless steel pressure gauges. Generally, once these issues are resolved, they won’t have much of an impact. However, many people aren’t quite clear about how the output signal of a stainless steel pressure gauge works.

  In a complete set of stainless steel pressure gauges, the equipment not only includes a measurement system and an indicating system but also features additional contact devices. Furthermore, the stainless steel pressure gauge comprises components such as a housing, adjustment mechanisms, and a junction box. Compared to conventional pressure gauges, this type is equipped with an additional electrical device-based pressure measurement system.

  In this way, when the set pressure value is reached, the device will be able to indicate the working pressure on-site and output a digital switch signal. Typically, contacts are installed separately on the pointer and the setting needle of the stainless steel pressure gauge. During use, you first need to adjust the upper and lower limit setting needles to the desired pressure points.

  Therefore, when the medium pressure within the working range changes, the indicating pressure pointer of the stainless steel pressure gauge will reach either the upper or lower limit setting pin. At that point, the contacts on the pointer will come into contact with the corresponding contacts on the upper or lower limit setting pins, thereby sending a switching signal through the electrical circuit to other industrial control devices, thus achieving automatic control or alarm functions.

  Based on the current usage scenario, the output contact signal methods employed by different stainless steel pressure gauge devices vary. There are four commonly used methods, as follows:

  1. One high-level and one low-level digital output;

  2. Two high-level digital output signals;

  3. Two low-level digital switch outputs;

  4. Two low-level and two high-level digital output signals.

  Below is a brief overview of the electrical specifications for a commonly used stainless steel pressure gauge: Its electrical contacts have a high dielectric strength of 380 VAC and 220 VDC; the maximum operating current is 1 A, with a continuous current rating of 0.6 A; and the maximum power rating is 30 VA. As for the setting range of this instrument, in the lower-range setting, you can arbitrarily set the value within the 5% to 50% of the full-scale range. In the upper-range setting, you can arbitrarily set the value within the 50% to 95% of the full-scale range.
